Does it need to be expensive?

Does it? Need it? First of all, its not free. Second of all, it can be very expensive. And finally, its all you!  Take the Jinhao 82 pictured above. I got it for about SGD$5, shipping included. I got it from Ali Express. I needed a pen. The Jinhao is a pen. So it fits. That should be the end of the story, right?  I love the looks and the performance of the nib. Individual mileage varies, but of course as everything else, its not perfect. Its a cartridge convertor pen. It came with its own, standard international cartridge, and all you need to do is to fill it up with ink and it will just go.  It will go, with you, whereabouts you may go. Its a screw on cap, takes 2 and a quarter turn to unscrew it and the ink will flow when you put the EF nib to paper.  So, need the pen be expensive?  No. Is it free? Almost. But is it a pen you can depend on as an every day writer? I am sure of it. But... You may want a gold nib, the one that bounces.  You may want an ebonite body, that is seemingly wa

Introductory Post.

Fountain pens, does it intrigue you? I was intrigued. I was so intrigued that I dove into the rabbit hole and have never ever  been able to make it out. It is a fascinating journey. And as I type this, I am still waiting for another pen to arrive. Pilots, Platinum, Sailor, HongDians, JinHaos and of course MontBlanc. Names that out to be familiar with the seasoned fountain pen collectors. But this is an inclusive hobby. a hobby that is as inclusive as well as affordable. I started my journey, more seriously, in October 2022. That was when I started pen-palling. Through pen-palling I rediscovered my love for writing, for composition, and also for the love of the written words. The romanticism of unscrewing a pen, placing the nib on paper and letting the magic flow as you create meaning using ink and paper, rocks. Friends call me Slim. I am 51 this year (2023).
